Founded in 2003, Operation Gratitude sends care packages to members of the United States military. Every year, Operation Gratitude delivers 100,000 packages to deployed service members, their families, those participating in the Wounded Warrior Project, and first responders.
The care packages contain entertainment items, snacks, and other products that either can be addressed directly to a recipient or generally contributed. Each package contains up to $100 worth of items, and is assembled at the Army National Guard Armory in Van Nuys, California, to ensure safety.
Those who are interested in assisting Operation Gratitude can find out more information at www.operationgratitude.com. The site features details about the organization’s programs and explains the many ways for people to get involved, such as through events that raise money and awareness. Along with financial donations, the group compiles wish lists from those who benefit from its philanthropy. Popular requested items include scarves, braided paracord bracelets, personal letters, and plush toys.
